Qatar Airways excess baggage charges per kg
On every route that is not to or from Africa or the Americas, you pay for each extra kg. Find the region you fly from on the left and the region you fly to along the top. Fees are in US dollars per kg, except from Doha, where they are in Qatari riyals.

Between Qatar and Africa or the Americas, Qatar Airways counts bags. These are the fees for each extra bag.

The overweight and oversize fees apply to a bag that is already in your allowance. CAD prices apply to trips from Canada. Qatar Airways notes that some routes are exceptions.
How to buy extra baggage on Qatar Airways
- Check your ticket is issued. You can buy once a ticket number appears next to your name in the booking confirmation email.
- Buy online more than 6 hours before departure. That is when you get the online saving. You can also buy at a Qatar Airways office or through the Contact Centre.
- Running late? From 6 hours to 1 hour before departure you can still buy at the airport ticket office, the check-in counter or online. After that, you can't pre-buy.
- Keep the receipt. It is valid only for the flight and date on it.
Rules that catch people out
- No refunds online: if your itinerary changes, the purchase is lost. A date change is allowed only on the same route.
- Qatar Airways tickets and flights only: it does not work on partner airlines or on tickets another airline issued.
- Bag limits: no single bag over 32 kg. Heavier loads must be split into two bags.
- How much you can add: up to 100 kg (or 10 bags) on A320 and A321 flights, up to 250 kg (or 20 bags) on A350, A380, 787 and 777 flights. It also depends on space on the day.
- Currency: you pay in the currency of the country you fly from. QAR fees apply only if you buy in Qatar for a flight from Doha.
- Babies: extra baggage for infants cannot be bought online.
- Privilege Club members can pay with Qcredits, also for family and friends.

On most routes Qatar Airways charges per kg: from USD 20 per kg within the Gulf, Levant and Iran up to USD 85 per kg between Australia or New Zealand and Japan or Korea. From Pakistan or India it is USD 30 per kg to the Gulf and USD 40 per kg to Europe. Extra weight is sold in 10 kg bundles.
How much does an extra bag cost on Qatar Airways to Africa or the Americas?
On these routes you pay per bag. In Economy an extra bag of up to 23 kg costs USD 130 between Africa and Qatar, and USD 255 between Africa and China and on most other Africa and Americas routes (CAD 350 from Canada).
Is Qatar Airways extra baggage cheaper online?
Yes. Qatar Airways gives an online saving if you buy more than 6 hours before departure. From 6 hours to 1 hour before departure you can still buy at the airport, an office or online. After that you cannot pre-buy.
Can I get a refund on extra baggage bought online?
No. Qatar Airways says online purchases are non-refundable and are lost if your itinerary changes. A date change is only allowed on the same route.
Do I pay extra baggage again at the transfer in Doha?
No. The charge is per passenger per journey, and a journey is your whole outbound or return trip, not counting the transfer point. Karachi to London via Doha is one journey.
